Over half the world’s population live in urban areas, consuming 78% of the planet’s total energy and producing 60% of its greenhouse gas emissions. The sustainability of our communities, businesses and organisations is key to minimising our impact on the environment and safeguarding our future quality of life.

This session will demonstrate how stakeholders of local, regional and international scope are addressing environmental issues, and the role of philanthropic institutions in influencing the responses. It will also address how philanthropy can support resilient cities and communities by promoting economic opportunities to achieve global sustainability.
